Bio: Karl has 37 years in worldwide concert promotions, event management, advertising, promotions and productions. He has extensive experience in festival promotions and productions and has changed his focus on event management from touring events, to creative festival production and promotion that best supports the communities that they live in. He wants to create events that showcase and supports the green/recycling initiatives, create more family events by instituting Children’s Pavilions, Health, Wellness and Nutritional Pavilions, Technology Pavilions and more to the events in order to make each event a family oriented event. Last, it is important for events to begin creating dowries in order to support the communities financially, where each event becomes a fundraiser for various foundations, benefits, inner city programs and more.

Name: Alicia P. Vazquez
Title: Ed Technology Teacher on Special Assignment

Bio: Alicia Vazquez is committed to student success inside the classroom and in life.  After several years of working in marketing and research she entered the teaching profession as a bilingual teacher at Santa Clara Unified.  She has been serving as an Educational Technology Teacher on Special Assignment for the last four years doing technology teacher training as well as writing the project based learning curriculum for the district’s ELL/Migrant/Newcomer Saturday and Summer Academy.  The PBL curriculum focuses on bringing 21st Century Skills to open up options in STEAM careers. Alicia is also a Code.org facilitator doing teacher training in the Silicon Valley to give every student the opportunity to learn computer science.

Name: Tzipor Ulman

Bio: Tzipor Ulman, PhD, is founder and CEO of Science is Elementary (SiE). Under her leadership, SiE grew from an idea to a multi-faceted organization. In 10 years, SiE worked with 10,000 students through its in-class program, trained 1,000 STEM professionals to serve as mentors to low-income youth, and provided professional development in science and engineering to 100 elementary teachers.

Tzipor’s prior work includes consulting on business strategy to Fortune 500 and startup clients, working with a seed VC, non-profit management, science tutoring, and mentoring students in urban and suburban areas. She is active in the community, serving on several nonprofit boards, and is the recipient of the Jefferson Award for Public Service.

Tzipor is the proud mother of 2 young men in whom she has instilled a curiosity about the world and the way things work. She holds a PhD in physical chemistry from Stanford University and a BSc in Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University.

 

Name: Anna N Schlegel

Bio: ANNA N. SCHLEGEL is a native of Catalunya, and the founder of Kenya’s “Imagine Educating Everyone”, co-founder of “Women in Localization” and initial Board Member of US2020 Initiative STEMentors Silicon Valley. Anna has led globalization teams for over twenty-five years with large enterprises including Cisco, VMware, Xerox, and NetApp. Her work has been published on Forbes.com, Fortune.com, Gala.com, Multilingual.com, and other research industry forums. Anna is a respected leader in the globalization and diversity community. Anna is Chair of WIT at NetApp and is the recipient of 2017’s Women Worth Watching in STEM. She frequently delivers lectures, webinars, keynotes and round tables at universities, corporations, and other international organizations. She lives with her family in Santa Clara, California. Name: Duaine Pryor

Bio: Duaine Pryor, PhD is Chief Technologist at Mentor, A Siemens Business. Duaine received his PhD in Math from UC Berkeley in California. Dr. Pryor is a founding member of the US2020 initiative STEMentors in the Silicon Valley, as well as Founding member of the Women in Localization Advisory Board. His focus on the STEMentors SV has been to re-envision the Board’s strategy and organization for execution considering the need to lead initiatives that impact our mission. This has enlarged the pool of leaders supporting the organization and propelled STEMentors SV, into its current organization. Dr. Pryor lives with his family in California and is an avid sailor.

Name: Kelly Petrich

Bio: Kelly brings more than 15 years of experience engaging people and their companies to create social, environmental, and financial value. As part of the Community Relations team at Cisco, Kelly leads Bay Area community investment and engagement strategies. She also partners with global teams to reach Cisco’s ambitious goal of 80% employee engagement in giving and volunteerism by 2020. Prior to Cisco, Kelly managed community initiatives with the SanDisk Foundation, built client CSR strategies with global advertising firm Saatchi & Saatchi, and first established her social impact career through roles in the US federal government and nonprofit sector.

Name: Nimisha Khanduja

Bio: Nimisha loves finding creative solutions and opportunities for STEM education. She has also been involved in e-learning startups and have worked with a variety of Bay Area programs to bridge opportunity gaps in K-12 education, specifically by experimenting with new education models.

Name: Nutan Malhotra

Bio: Nutan has been a technology leader in the computer networking industry. Her passion for education and creating equity in access to personalized guidance for better student outcomes propelled her to launch her startup SkoolMentor.com. SkoolMentor is an innovative platform through which high school students connect with college students and recent graduates for personalized guidance on how to be successful in high school and prepare for college. In her spare time, Nutan enjoys hiking and gardening.
